I Don't Remember the Easter Bunny in the Bible

Tierney Loretta 2 - Page 017 Tierney Loretta 2 - Page 018

We don't do the Easter basket and toy giving thing at Easter time. Can we please have one holiday that is not overcommercialized? Still, Trevor's mom sent Tierney the freaking Easter Bunny in the mail. Not only is it slightly hideous, it sings, moves and jumps. Yes people, it jumps. Because apparently it is not possible to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord without a motorized rabbit.

Still, because I'm such a wonderful daughter-in-law (read: needed a prop for her Easter portraits), I allowed Tierney to bring Mr. Hoppity Hop outside while I took her picture. She drug him around and repeatedly pushed the button that caused him to sing his happy little song over and over and over until I wanted to make rabbit stew. On the plus side, I got some cute pictures of her.

Later in the day I found said Bunny in the trash can. When asked about it, Trevor said he was just trying to move it out of the way. I thought it was an appropriate place, but since I'm the nicest mom in the world (read: didn't want to hear Tierney scream when she couldn't find it), I took it out of the trash and left it in a less permanent location.

LOL about the prop. Good for you not commercializing easter. Sadly I participate in the easter egg hunt festivities but you make a good point. Love the photos!

Well at least it made for a great photo opp, heh heh. We manage to balance giving our kids presents and focusing on the most important part too. It can be a challenge though and I certainly understand why you wouldn't want to glorify the gift giving with presents when that's not the point of Easter.

First of all, I love the new header. Second, while I shudder at the thought of a motorized Easter bunny toy (why not just send a nice little plush?), you did get beautiful pics out of it. :)

I do agree that Easter's become overcommercialized. I do like Easter baskets, but I don't agree with the toy-giving thing either. Johnny's parents always put together little baskets for him and his brother, with dyed eggs and chocolates (but not "permanent" presents). I think we'll do that when Jack is older.
